A Seeking Alpha gift subscription is a thoughtful present for anyone who invests, from a new graduate opening a first brokerage account to a retired parent managing a dividend portfolio. Seeking Alpha's help center confirms that account holders can gift one year of Seeking Alpha Premium. This guide explains the steps, what the recipient experiences and the details to check before you buy.

How Much Does a Gift Cost?
The help center page describes the gift process but does not state a separate gift price, so check the amount shown in the Gifts section before you pay. Premium's standard list price is $299 a year. The $269 first-year price via our partner link applies to new subscribers signing up through that link; we have not seen it advertised for gifts, so do not assume it applies.
Gift vs Other Ways to Help Someone Start
Referral link
If you already subscribe, you can share your referral link. The friend gets a 14-day free Premium trial, and if they then pay for Premium, you receive a $25 subscription credit. This costs you nothing but requires them to pay after the trial. See Seeking Alpha referral program.
Let them use the free trial
New subscribers get a 7-day free trial and can pay $269 for the first year through a partner link. This suits someone who wants to choose for themselves.
The gift itself
The gift is the only option where the recipient pays nothing for a full year and does not hand over a card. That makes it ideal for students and for people wary of auto-renewing subscriptions. See Seeking Alpha student discount for why this matters to students.
Or let them start with the free week
Premium is free for 7 days for new subscribers, then $269 for year one via our link.
Share the offer →Tips Before You Gift
- Confirm the recipient's preferred email; the gift is delivered there.
- Check whether they already subscribe. A current subscriber may not benefit from a gifted year in the same way, so ask Seeking Alpha support before buying.
- Tell them what happens after year one so access does not stop unexpectedly.
- Add a short note on how to start: build a portfolio, then read the Quant Rating and factor grades of each holding.
Can You Gift Alpha Picks?
Seeking Alpha's gift help page refers specifically to one year of Premium. We did not find a published option to gift Alpha Picks or PRO. If you want to give Alpha Picks, contact subscriptions@seekingalpha.com to ask.
Gift Ideas by Recipient
For a new investor, pair the gift with a short note suggesting they start by adding one or two holdings to a portfolio and reading the grades. For a dividend investor, point them to the dividend scorecard. For a finance student, mention the earnings call transcripts and ten years of financial statements, which are useful for coursework. For a retired relative, the alerts on their existing holdings may be the most valuable feature. A little guidance helps the recipient get value in the first week rather than letting the gift go unused.
Our Take
A gifted year of Premium is one of the few investing gifts that keeps giving value through the year: every earnings season, every dividend decision and every new idea can be checked against the grades and analysis. Because the recipient needs no card and the gift simply lapses after a year unless they choose to pay, it is low-pressure for them. Check the price in the Gifts section before paying, schedule the email for the right day and add a short how-to note.

How We Researched This Page
We built this comparison from each company's own pricing, plan and help pages, checked in October 2026. Seeking Alpha figures (Premium $299 list, $269 first year through our link, 7-day free trial for new subscribers, Alpha Picks $499 list with $449 shown via our offer link as of Oct 2026, bundle $718 first year, PRO $2,400 list) come from Seeking Alpha's offer pages and help center. Where a competitor's page could not be read directly, we say so and either describe the feature in general terms or link to the official page rather than guess. Performance figures quoted by any vendor are that vendor's own claims, not independent audits. Prices and features change, so always confirm the final price at checkout before you subscribe.
