How does Alpha Picks work? In one sentence: twice a month, Seeking Alpha selects a US stock that its quant system has rated Strong Buy for at least 75 consecutive days, adds it to a model portfolio, and alerts members when ratings change. This guide unpacks every rule using Seeking Alpha's help center, then explains how subscribers typically use it.

Alpha Picks Selection Criteria

Seeking Alpha's help center lists these rules:

RuleDetail
Quant RatingStrong Buy for at least 75 consecutive days
Factors behind the ratingValue, Growth, Profitability, EPS Revisions, Momentum
Security typeUS common stock only; no ADRs
ExcludedREITs
SizeThree-month average market capitalisation above $500 million
PriceAbove $10 per share
Repeat ruleNot recommended in the past year
FrequencyTwo Strong Buy stocks per month

The 75-day requirement is important. It filters out stocks that flash to Strong Buy briefly and then fade, favouring companies whose fundamentals and estimate trends have stayed strong for months.

When Picks Arrive

One pick is added on the first trading day of the month and another on the 15th, or the closest trading day after. The App Store description says the two picks each month are delivered to your inbox.

What Members Receive

According to Seeking Alpha's App Store listing, Alpha Picks includes:

How the Quant Rating Feeds It

The Quant Rating scores each stock against its sector peers on more than 100 metrics across the five factors listed above. Alpha Picks does not use contributor articles or Wall Street analyst ratings to choose stocks; it is driven by the quant model plus the eligibility screens. See Seeking Alpha Quant Ratings explained.

Performance

Seeking Alpha reports the Alpha Picks portfolio at +356.93% versus +106.24% for the S&P 500 from July 1, 2022 to October 9, 2026. These are company-reported results and past performance does not guarantee future results. Full context: Alpha Picks performance.

Picks plus the research to understand them

Premium + Alpha Picks bundle: $718 for the first year per Seeking Alpha (vs $798 separately).

How Subscribers Use Alpha Picks

Follow every pick with equal amounts

The simplest approach mirrors the portfolio: buy each new pick in a similar amount and act on Sell alerts. This keeps your results closest to the reported portfolio.

Use picks as a shortlist

Others treat each pick as a research candidate, then decide with their own analysis. Premium helps here because it shows the factor grades, articles and transcripts behind each stock.

Add selectively to an index core

Many investors keep most money in index funds and use Alpha Picks for a smaller active portion.

Alpha Picks vs Premium

Alpha Picks tells you what to consider buying. Premium gives you the tools to research any stock yourself. They are separate subscriptions; see Premium vs Alpha Picks.

Cost and Cancellation

Alpha Picks lists at $499 a year, $449 via our offer link as of October 2026. Subscriptions auto-renew; cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period, and fees are non-refundable unless stated otherwise in writing. Steps: how to cancel Alpha Picks.

What Alpha Picks Does Not Do

It does not size positions for you beyond its own portfolio approach, manage taxes, or account for what else you own. It does not pick REITs or foreign ADRs, so income or international investors may need other tools. It does not promise returns. Understanding these limits helps you decide how much of your portfolio to dedicate to the picks and what other research you still need.

A First-Month Plan for New Members

Read the stock selection research and recent performance update first. Review the current portfolio and decide whether to buy existing positions or only new picks. Set a fixed amount per pick and a rule for acting on Sell alerts. Revisit after three months.

Our Take

Alpha Picks works by turning the Quant system's most persistent Strong Buy ratings into a disciplined, twice-monthly portfolio with clear eligibility rules and alerts. Its simplicity is the appeal: you do not have to read hundreds of articles to act. The trade-offs are concentration, no REITs or ADRs, and fees that matter more for smaller portfolios.

How We Researched This Page

We built this comparison from each company's own pricing, plan and help pages, checked in October 2026. Seeking Alpha figures (Premium $299 list, $269 first year through our link, 7-day free trial for new subscribers, Alpha Picks $499 list with $449 shown via our offer link as of Oct 2026, bundle $718 first year, PRO $2,400 list) come from Seeking Alpha's offer pages and help center. Where a competitor's page could not be read directly, we say so and either describe the feature in general terms or link to the official page rather than guess. Performance figures quoted by any vendor are that vendor's own claims, not independent audits. Prices and features change, so always confirm the final price at checkout before you subscribe.
